David Barron’s primary areas of expertise are commercial financing, leasing, and development. He has represented lenders in commercial loan and refinance transactions, including a Bay Area regional bank and a major life insurance company, and has negotiated numerous loans for commercial borrowers as well. He has represented both landlords and tenants in a multitude of lease transactions, including shopping center leases, office leases, big box leases, leases for quick-serve restaurants, ground leases for major commercial developments, and maritime terminal leases, and has negotiated leases with major national tenants such as Tiffany, Pottery Barn, and Bank of America. He has created template lease forms, for projects such as mixed-use commercial and office developments. In addition, he represents smaller landlord/developers in conjunction with the acquisition, development, leasing, and sale of properties. His practice also encompasses title issues, condominiums, the purchase and sale of businesses, the formation of business entities such as corporations and limited liability companies, and a multitude of related matters.
Affiliations, Activities and Accomplishments
Mr. Barron has been involved with Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley since 2004. He is completing eight years as a member of the Board of Directors, serving as Board Chair for two years. During his tenure as Board Chair, the East Bay affiliate merged with the Silicon Valley affiliate to become one of the largest Habitat affiliates in the country, one which was recently named an Affiliate of Distinction, one of only seven affiliates to earn that award. Mr. Barron is also the President and a Director of Butters Canyon Conservancy, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of Butters Canyon in Oakland. The Conservancy has kept nearly four acres of canyon lands as unspoiled open space, a vital piece of the Peralta Creek watershed. He is admitted to practice law in California, and is a member of the Real Property Section of the California State Bar.
Mr. Barron is an avid skier, cyclist, and swimmer. He is also a founding member of the San Francisco Thundershoes, the top-ranked snowshoe softball team in California. Born in San Francisco, he has been a Bay Area resident all his life. He and his wife have hosted a number of foster children in recent years, including three deaf teenagers.
